MICHAEL SWAFFORD RECEIVES GRANT FROM K20 CENTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
Idabel High School science teacher Michael Swafford has received a grant from the K20 Center at the University of Oklahoma. The grant application was a rigorous process with two levels of competition. Stage one required Swafford to attend a workshop at OU where he collaborated with fellow science teachers to create an authentic learning lesson. In October, he and his group of fellow teachers taught the lesson to a select group of students in the community. After teaching, reviewing, and analyzing that lesson, Swafford was able to develop another real-world learning opportunity for his students at Idabel High School. This lesson will be taught using new digital imaging equipment and software purchased with the money awarded by the K20 grant.
